COUNTRY PORCH
Fall 2004 Newsletter
Greetings from The Porch!
Fall . . . breathtaking,
glorious and vibrant! It’s all about abundance, about fruitfulness and
being thankful. Fragrant red apples, field pumpkins, corn stalks and wood
smoke scent the air. In our town, we’ve stepped up the pace . . .
the time for summer languish has passed. Snow flurries are on the
horizon!
In the mountains Quakies
shimmer like so many gold coins as do our gorgeous new
linens
decked out in the most delicious colors under the harvest moon! W. Somerset
Maugham said, “Beauty is an ecstasy; it is as simple as hunger.”
And here at The Porch our store has taken on its own ecstasy with NEW tantalizing
candle
aromas, NEW Victorian Heart patterns,
cozy quilts (all 265 of them!)
and all things good.
Speaking of hunger, we are
thrilled to be sponsors of our favorite outdoor cooking show, The Campfire
Café, with host Johnny Nix on RFD-TV. Our linens are featured
as the supporting cast for his yummy recipes and flair for campfire cooking.
Meanwhile, back at The Porch
you’ll find many new patterns; check out our New Favorites, All-Time Favorites,
Quilt of the Season, Candle Club, and Seasonal Recipes. Oh, and don’t
forget to bookmark so you can find your way back home.
So cozy up, grab a cup of
steaming hot tea and start thinking change because we can’t wait any longer
to show and tell!
We are filled with the good
things of your house. – Psalms 65:4

New and All-Time Favorites
NEW! Happy Harvest
Remember the taste of candy
corn . . . finding your favorite pumpkin . . . and avoiding black cats?
Childhood harvest memories are captured in Cindy Shramp’s newest whimsical
tale of pumpkins, scarecrows, autumn leaves and crows depicted in the rich
colors of fall in terra cotta, pumpkin, moss, and mustard.
Mix it up and invite the
harbingers of good fortune with
Crow
jacquard dishtowels in deep taupe,
terra cotta and midnight. Happy harvest!

NEW! Bittersweet
Just berries and twigs twining
their way into a simple border create this utterly enchanting pattern.
Artist Pat Fischer added a bit of moss leaves and a background of tea stain
that mixes beautifully with all the rich earth colors of
Ginger.
Collect tiny pinecones and bits of forest moss for the matching
country basket,
or just simply reread “Little House on the Prairie” in the glow
of a Bittersweet lampshade. |

NEW! Spice Leaf
The vibrant colors of a
New England fall shimmer in this gorgeous new jacquard leaf pattern of
toasted mustard, wheat, plum, moss and tawny pumpkin. Set an abundant
table with Spice Leaf linens mixing it up with
Spice Check
and pretty antique brass napkin rings. Don a Spiced Leaf apron and invite
the neighbors over for hot apple cider and pumpkin pie . . . be thankful! |

Fall
Quilt of the Season
We have so many new and
beautiful quilts that it was too difficult to choose just one. So,
here are two very different but lovely quilts to tantalize your decorating
skills. |

NEW! Colette
Country scrappy! Patches
of old-fashioned cranberry calicos and plaids in sage and country red define
cozy, country comfort. Sprays of pretty silk ribbon embroidery embellish
the border of dusky red ticking. Two more borders, one of toasted gold
and cranberry and the other of deep country red give the look of added
warmth.
Darling country rooster needlepoint
pillows and a matching hooked rug will wake you to the sound of country!
Just think, no more running all over town and everybody else’s town to
find all the accessories. Everything you need is right here to create
your own nest!

Timberline
So, you’ve always yearned
for your very own little log cabin in the woods. Well here it is, complete
with appliquéd howling wolves, curious moose, romping deer and prowling
bears. It even comes with the moon!
Best of all, it’s easy to
match with plaids, stripes and prints of true navy, hunter green, country
red, tan and brown. Create a layered look with Timberline pillow shams
and quilted pillows. Curl up with a good book in the ambience of
a candle glowing in a holder from our Chicken Wire Collection.

Recipes
With the change in weather,
we can get back into the kitchen and cook up some of our favorite pasta

Mix together: 1 cup
mayonnaise, 1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese and 3-4 T Country Porch Roasted Garlic and Red Pepper Dip Mix

Spread butter on bread halves
and lightly brown under the oven broiler. So . . . how easy is that? |
