COUNTRY PORCH
June 2007 Newsletter Is It Summer Yet?
Greetings from The Porch!
Up here in the North Country we sit perched on the
brink of summer . . . not so patiently waiting for the biggest production of the year.
No price is set on the lavish summer; June may be had by the poorest comer.
~ James Russell Lowell, The Vision of Sir Launfal, 1848
Like getting ready for a long awaited house guest, we're spring cleaning, recycling that which is
worn and putting out our newest patterns of country style curtains,
table linens, ceramic pottery,
shower curtains, curtain valances and tiers,
NEW tab cut out valances, NEW
layered valances and homespun dishtowels.
So pack up the remains of winter and get creative! Turn your home into a breezy Beach House,
Lake House,
Patriotic House, or summer
Cottage House. We invite you to take time
to browse and begin that creative process. Oh, and don't forget to bookmark so you can find your way back home.
Summer afternoon - summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.
~ Henry James

Quilts for the Summer Season
The nights still get chilly up here in the North Country, so we always keep a bundle of quilts handy. These are a few of our summer picks. |

Meanwhile back at The Country Porch, soft spring rains fall, mountain
mushrooms push gently up and we all go out and grill anyway . . . under an umbrella. So if it's your turn to cook, try
this delicious recipe from Gooseberry Patch and their new Our Favorite Grilling Recipes Cookbook.

Man is a peculiar creature. He spends a fortune making his home insect-proof and air-conditioned, and then eats in the yard.

Summer Candle Club
While summer is dawdling around we can still dream of the fragrance of the season with Tart Cherry, Strawberry Shortcake or our Coconut Layer
